DAILYKENN.com -- A 24-year-old jogger was shot dead in Indianapolis.

The murder attracted virtually no national media attention.

Reports say Nathan Trapuzzano was shot dead on April 1, 2014 in the early morning hours.

"Jennifer Trapuzzano, Nathan's widow, gave birth to the couple's daughter Cecilia three weeks after he died," according to fox59.com.

16-year-old Simeon Adams was charged for the crime.

He was convicted and sentenced to 55-years. He may serve about half that with good behavior.

The "justice system didn't work," the victim's sister reportedly said.

"In a court hearing, Adams admitted to shooting and killing Trapuzzano on West 16th Street in the early morning hours of April 1, 2014. Prosecutors believed Adams tried to rob Trapuzzano while he was on his daily morning walk," fox59.com reported.

Adams was also charged "with attempted murder in connection with the nonfatal shooting of Erick Douglas about 2:15 a.m. March 30 in the 2900 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street," according to indystar.com.

"That incident was not related to Trapuzzano's slaying, but .40-caliber bullet casings found at both sites connect the two shootings, authorities said," according to the report.

"Hours after Trapuzzano was killed, the suspect found himself in the same hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound," the story noted.

Trapuzzano was a computer programmer at Ivy Tech Community College, was killed with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen while on a regular morning fitness walk.
