DAILYKENN.com -- The last thing the pastor plans to do is leave. He wants to remain and conduct church services.
So why does he need an ankle monitor?
Apparently the device is intended to punish Pastor Tony Spell. No trial. No jury. No conviction.
What's more, the monitor serves as a warning to others.
The Louisiana preacher was fitted with the monitor after conducting normal church services.
He was placed under house arrest.
Spell continued to have church ... while wearing the monitor.
The ban on gatherings is “politically motivated,” he said, according to CBN News.
It's an “attack on all Christians across the world.”
“We feel that we are as an essential part of our community as the retail stores,” Spell explained.
He noted that Walmart and Target remain open while churches are forced to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Spell is the pastor at The Life Tabernacle Church, a pentecostalist church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
He was accused of attempting to run over a protester. A video recording seems to dispute the accusation. Nonetheless, the minister was incarcerated.
