It has transpired that Russian company Almaz-Antey, which produces arms systems for the Russian armed forces, registered a patent for an interceptor drone, that somewhat resembles a flying AK-47.

The images provided by Rospatent Federal Service for Intellectual Property show that there is an assault rifle placed in the center of the drone. The rifle bears a striking resemblance to the world famous Kalashnikov AK-47 rifle.

According to specialists, the development of the new drone comes as an extensive program to equip the Russian army with new types of drones. In particular, Russian designers have developed an underwater drone, armed with a Kalashnikov assault rifle in an effort to combat subversive divers. Russia has also completed the trials of so-called kamikaze drones.

For the time being, the project remains of the patent stage only.
