On June 8, 1967 the USS Liberty (AGTR-5) was attacked without warning or provocation by the combined forces of the Israeli Air Force and Navy. Despite being a victim of War Crimes committed by the IDF the US government has never conducted an investigation of the attack.

The attack on the USS Liberty is the only attack on a US Navy ship since the end of World War II NOT to be the subject of a Congressional investigation.
