The story of Krasnoyarsk Governor Lev Kuznetsov, who was robbed in one of his villas on the French Riviera has made headlines all over the world. The head of the Krasnoyarsk region of Russia and his wife suffered minor injuries and lost jewelry worth around 200,000 euros. Now, like other Russian civil servants, they will have to incur greater losses and get rid of property abroad.

The State Duma started working on a document that prohibits officials from owning real estate and financial accounts abroad. Previously, similar restrictions were applied only to savings in foreign banks, but now it came to real estate. Deputies intend to revise the issue and stop Russian officials from owning real estate in foreign countries.

A lot of restrictions have been imposed on Russian officials recently, but rumors of their fabulous wealth, that may not always be legitimate, continue to appear. Will this bill be able to improve the situation?
