The police of Ukraine started to arrest activists on charges of rioting in connection with the demolition of the monument to Vladimir Lenin in the center of Kiev, deputy from UDAR opposition party Valery Karpuntsov said.

The monument, which was erected in Kiev in 1946, was demolished on Sunday evening. Freedom Party claimed responsibility for it. The police categorized the action as mass riots and opened a criminal case.

Obviously, the action was not an anti-communist one. The monument to the leader of the world proletariat did not bother anyone for decades. The act to demolish the monument was obviously an anti-Russian move. One shall assume that the protesters will proceed to other memorials related to their northern neighbor. Will they decide to demolish monuments to Pushkin or Bulgakov, who glorified the capital of Ukraine in his works?
