TEXT OF VIDEO:
"The city of Hiroshima, which was devastated by a US atomic bomb in 1945, hosted the G7 summit this week, where the leaders of the world’s major economies discussed how to deal with the nuclear threats posed by China and Russia. President Joe Biden joined his counterparts in visiting the Peace Memorial Museum and laying wreaths at a cenotaph for the victims of the attack, but he did not apologize for the US decision to use nuclear weapons on Japan. The Japanese prime minister, Fumio Kishida, who has a personal connection to Hiroshima and has pledged to work for a nuclear-free world, welcomed the leaders and their spouses and arranged for them to meet a survivor of the bombing. The summit also addressed other global challenges such as climate change, pandemic recovery, and cybersecurity. However, not everyone in Hiroshima was happy with the G7 presence. Hundreds of protesters from various groups marched to the Peace Memorial Park, where they expressed their anger at the US and its allies for their role in nuclear proliferation and wars. They also demanded justice and compensation for the hibakusha - the survivors of the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They accused Japan of being hypocritical for hosting the summit and not signing the UN treaty banning nuclear weapons. The summit was cut short by Biden, who had to return to Washington to deal with the crisis over the US debt ceiling. He held a press conference on Sunday before leaving Japan."
