On the 17th of February, it was exactly one year since the beginning of the strong Ukrainian attack against Donbass defenders, which led to the intervention of the Russian forces a week later. The settlement of Donetsky, in the Lugansk People's Republic, was a frontline village for many years since 2014 and also at that time.

Chief editor Janus Putkonen visited the area in the morning of the 18th, a year ago, to observe the escalation. A year after, on the same day, he came to the same place exactly to see the changes the settlement underwent and learn what happened there in the first weeks and months after his visit a year ago.

The interview: Olga Mikhailovna Kobzar, Donetskiy chief administrator.
