What difference is between the military operation and the war? The second notion is what the current Ukrainian president Oleksandr Turchynov proclaimed in the East of the country. The first notion is what, from the point of view of many people, actually happens in Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. And it seems that those who fight against the Ukrainian citizens in the East are mostly the mercenaries.
Sergey Baryshnikov, director of the Center for political analysis and technologies in Donetsk -- city that became the epicenter of the military operation for now.
"Off course, we have the feeling of the threat here. It seems that Slavyansk became the hottest spot on the political map of the post-soviet area -- maybe even the world. But, as we can notice, Donetsk itself is still under control of the militia that acts from the name of Donetsk People's Republic.
It seems that the rebels from Kiev cant' achieve anything yet even using the heavy armament and vehicles. As for the victims -- there are some, I think. But these are the isolated cases.
I don't know whether the direct combat fighting will take place or not. For now I don't think that such fighting takes place. Maybe, the actions of Putin and Obama will cool it off. Maybe, USA and the West will be able to reduce tensions, or, maybe, on the contrary, they will support and stimulate the illegitimate political leaders in Kiev. From the first day of their illegal seizure of power in Kiev we don't recognize them and don't accept them here. This is our principal position here in Donetsk: these people in power there in Kiev are the insurgents and we here are the defenders of the constitutional system and the agreements that were signed by the president Yanukovich on the February 21.
We are sure that we have the right to call them the insurgents, the rebels, the separatists, because all the processes that caused the disintegration of Ukraine were stimulated by them. They fueled the engines of destruction, they encroached a power and they came to power by means of the mutiny.
