Traditionally, we approach ab workouts with a high rep low weight ethos. This is because science suggests that smaller muscles groups respond best to lighter weight or have more potential in the areas of endurance rather than strength.
However, I have found approaching core exercises with strength in mind (high weight low rep) makes maintaining definition and core strength far easier than the traditional approach.
