Strong quake devastates China's northwest

The 6.6 magnitude earthquake in China has claimed nearly 100 lives. Over 500 people received injuries of varying severity. More than 1,000 buildings were completely destroyed, tens of thousands were damaged. The number of victims is growing.

The epicenter of the quake was located in the Gansu province in the northwest of the country. The tremors began at about 7:45 am on Monday. Communication was interrupted with 13 towns of the province. Rescue operations are underway.
