The coronavirus pandemic may spur interest in the off-grid lifestyle and Earthship homes, says Phil Basehart, resident of New Mexico’s eco-friendly Greater World Community. Given that there’s a “sentiment that this is not the last pandemic”, Basehart says his #Earthship community could set “a good example” for being less dependent on the government. The homes here, built entirely from waste, have their own sewage and water collection systems and generate their own energy. Basehart talks about how life has changed in the Earthship community since the outbreak began and reveals if they have been offered any money in small business aid. He also tells us whether he thinks the authorities will support initiatives like their #eco-friendly communes in the post-Covid 19 world.
