A cover of the original by the band "Schooner Fare", the song details two sergeants in Scotland attempting to recruit the local boys who have clearly been down on their luck by fate and what-not. You may say "But pittman, that's just a dialect of English." While that may be true for Scottish and the singers of the song, Scots itself is a distinct language, albeit, 90% intelligible by "theoretical means". As an American, the meaning behind the song isn't hard to come across as our dialects derive themselves from a combination of English and Scots. Compare this version to that of the one done by "Steam Jenny" and you'll hear Scots in its real form. I simply chose this version as it was more catchy in my own opinion.
