Morning Manna: End Time Preppers Part 2 - 1/9/17
Matthew 24 is the most well known chapter in the Bible about the End Times. Most people think it is about wars, natural calamities, persecution, and tribulation. Yes, those things are mentioned. The core message, however, is being ready for the glorious appearing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In Matthew 24, Jesus tells us to be ready for His return. He told a parable about a rich master who came home to see if his servants were doing his will on his property. Jesus asked the question, "Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master has made ruler over his household to give them food at the appointed time?"
Yesterday I said the Church must return to its apostolic roots when home churches gathered weekly for the Agape Feast. Early Christians paid for dinners every week to feed souls three things: physical food, the Word of God, and the flesh and blood of Jesus. The Agape Feast model worked because Christians gathered in homes with their neighbors to share the Gospel with them.
The bottom line is this: They invested their money into sharing the Gospel of the Kingdom.
The 24th and 25th chapters of the Gospel of our Lord according to St. Matthew are about money. Are we investing our personal money into the KIngdom of God or consuming on ourselves?
There are three parables about the last days in Chapter 25. All three are about being ready for the Second Coming of Jesus. All three are about how and where you spend your money. Chapter 25 is a continuation of Jesus' answer to the question asked by His disciples: "Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?" Jesus gave a long reply. It fills Chapters 24 and 25.
