An increasing amount of evidence, both archaeological and genetic, indicates the possibility that ancient Europeans in effect kickstarted metallurgy in Africa and China. In the case of the latter culture, it seems likely that the wheel too was introduced by Europeans. This suggests that Europe may have played the major role in the growth of civilisation and that the migration of early Homo Sapiens from Africa may in time be relegated to the side-lines of human history.
