Lockdowns Are The Only Way as Politicians Scramble to Copy One Another

All around the world we have seen pandemic readiness plans scrapped as somehow, we've embraced the Wuhan (and the Italian) model of snap lockdowns to suppress and eliminate COVID-19.

Politicians seem in a race to copy one another, with reasoning shifting from:

'two weeks to flatten the curve'
to
'keep our ICU beds available'
to
'even 1 death is too many'
to
'we must keep case numbers low'
to
'we must run this to ground (0 cases)'

to most recently in Victoria Australia:

'it's about the number of exposure sites and potential upstream cases we don't know about'.
