In Babylonia he was known as Tammuz and was so loved that the Israelites named one of their months after 'Tammuz'. In later iterations he became known as Horus which is his child deity name, his adult deity name is Ra, and Ra is represented as an Eye ๐.
Could this be why the Egyptians used the eye to represent Ra, because the sun looks and appears as an eye!
Horus is the name for where we get words like Horizon, Horizontal, Horoscope, etc...
