Emergency legislation known as the Coronavirus Act was fast tracked in March 2020 by the UK Government in a matter of just four days. The Act contains ‘emergency powers’ to enable public bodies to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Coronavirus Act has upturned many of our democratic foundations, with local elections cancelled, the safeguarding of civil liberties abandoned, and the rule of law suspended.
