According to The Wall Street Journal, U.S. military and intelligence officials are trying to determine if they can conduct a series of surgical strikes against North Korea’s nuclear weapons programs without dragging the world into a full-blown war.

The strategy, described in previous reports as a “bloody nose strike,” would involve a U.S. targeted strike against a North Korean facility in response to a nuclear of missile test. The goal would be to “blood Pyongyang’s nose” and to demonstrate the “high price” the regime could pay if it continues down its current path.
