Ukraine will lose over $2 billion of its annual revenue because of construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, Robin Dunnigan, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Diplomacy at the US Department of State claimed.
She also reproached Europe for inconsistency: 'You have to ask: Why would you support Ukraine with one hand and strangle it with the other,' Dunnigan claimed.
She warned the EU that the Nord Stream-2 can increase the EU's dependence on the energy supply from Russia even twofold. According to Dunnigan, the gas pipeline 'threatens not only Ukraine's survivability and their resources, but it is a risk to fuel diversification in Europe, especially southeastern Europe, '
