The Main Directorate for the Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation completed the investigation into the criminal case against captain of RRJ-95B aircraft, Denis Evdokimov. He is accused of committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic safety rules and operations of air transport, which, through negligence, caused serious harm to human health, the death of two or more persons, major damage).
According to the investigation, the captain of the passenger aircraft bound from Moscow to Murmansk, on May 5, 2019, after returning to the airport of departure, made a rough landing on the runway of Sheremetyevo Airport. Evdokimov’s further actions entailed fire and destruction of the aircraft, resulting in the death of 40 passengers and one crew member. There were 78 people on board at the moment of the accident, including three children and 5 crew members.
Investigators and experts studied the data of flight recorders of the crashed aircraft, according to which the aircraft was responding adequately to the control actions of the pilot during the flight. This information refutes the version of the defendant about the possible malfunction of the systems of the aircraft.
