This is WHO is lying to you on Facebook

From the beginning of the pandemic, Facebook has promised to remove any fake news about Coronavirus.

The social media giant released an official statement on the 25th of March titled "Combating COVID-19 Misinformation Across Our Apps".

In that statement, Facebook pledged to "remove COVID-19 related misinformation that could contribute to imminent physical harm and conspiracy theories about the origin of the virus".

The next day, thousands of posts discussing potential treatments or questioning the wet-market narrative either disappeared off the platform or featured a warning.

One of the posts that suddenly came with the "fake news" warning was an Epoch Times documentary titled "Tracking Down the Origin of Wuhan Coronavirus." (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bXWGxhd7ic)

The Epoch Times documentary didn't offer any definite conclusions, just presented some underreported facts.

It turned out to be so accurate that the same story was later picked up by most mainstream networks around the world.

So it begs the question: how does Facebook decide what Coronavirus content is true or false?

Well, if you read that statement from 25th of March, you quickly realise what’s going on. Their fact-checking guidance comes from the one and only World Health Organization.

The same WHO that told us:

🦠 human-to-human transition was impossible.
🦠 China was doing a great job.
🦠 not to restrict travellers from epicentre during the initial outbreak.
🦠 not to wear masks.
The same WHO that covered up China’s lies from the beginning.

Facebook is relying on the source of misinformation to police misinformation.

Try making sense of that one.
