I wanted to discuss the fact that many governments, including the Australian government are currently delaying the proposals presented to them back in November, to pass mandatory labeling laws, which would require products containing unsustainable palm oil to be labeled as such.
First of all, why is it such a bad idea to label palm oil products as being palm oil products? Its no surprise its being delayed, they did exactly the same thing to the proposals years ago to label GMO foods, but there are so many loopholes, especially on imported foods and its at the point now where you cannot even be 100% certain what you are eating anymore. Australia and New Zealand are not the only places this is happening either, we are seeing a very similar pattern occur across the world.
