The Coronavirus Act 2020 is a 324 piece of legislation that was fast-tracked through Parliament with just one day of debate and received Royal Assent on 26th March.
Yes, extraordinary circumstances require extraordinary measures, however the Coronavirus Act is the greatest limitation on our civil liberties in generations and has harmed our most basic human rights given the wide-ranging nature of the Act, which impacts many aspects of life in significant ways.
This is why we are supporting the Liberty Human Rights 'Protect Everyone' bill which is designed to replace the current Coronavirus Act.
