First thing I would do is hang out with people that are better than you because their qualities will rub off on you. When I was in my later years in high school I spent a lot of time hanging around with a couple of Japanese people back in the mid to late nineties. I was always told that if you want to be a better person than you need to hang out people that are better than you, mentally, physically, intellectually, spiritually, etc. It has nothing to do with racism but everything to do with with you becoming a reflection of the people around you. If you hang around intelligent and hard working people you will naturally tend to take on those qualities to fit in and if the people around you are higher than you financially, culturally, educationally etcetera than you will instinctively elevate yourself to try and meet them on their own level. So if I were a black man in America I would be doing what I could to elevate myself by hanging around white folks or Asians. I did this as a white man hanging out with Japanese and Korean people in high school and no one gave me trouble for this. A lot of black people have the mentality that if they hang around with white people they will become what has been uncommonly referred to as Oreos. They are Black on the outside but white on the inside. The black community hates this especially black women that hate it when black men date white or Asian women. They don't want the black men to leave and stop giving them attention but at the same time black women swirl and get into relationships with white men and think that's perfectly acceptable. Woemn like that become chameleons and change their behavior to suit the white men they date. The men they date not only elevate their status but also influence their behavior and they tend to become more polite and agreable. Tommy Sotomayor has covered this before. So if I was a black male I would be dating and hanging around with people that were racially, financially, culturally perceived to come from a position of higher status because their qualities would become my qualities. Think back to Carlton from the Fresh Prince. If anyone thinks there's something wrong with this than you need to look back to Martin Luther Kings plan for racial integration and not segregation. He spoke and dressed like a white male and besides getting respect from many people it scared the government because the whites didn't want to see blacks elevated. After the Fresh Prince and Cosby Show we haven't seen as many shows where blacks have assimilated into white culture.
