Ordinary Americans, Catholics especially, are tired of the lies and distortions of Democrats like Rep Alexandria Occasional-Cortisol about St. Damian de Veuster of Molokai (who gave his life to serve the isolated lepers there)?

They are also incensed at the pulling down of statues of St. Junipero Serra, the father of California and the general attack on Christian symbols and figures.

Joe Biden has said zero, zip, nada about any of this—the same guy who sells himself as a "devout Catholic."

But President Trump can take action, using the kind of unconventional means he is known for. It is this:

Dear Mr. President: grant honorary citizenship to St. Junipero Serra and St. Damien of Molokai.

Since both great men were missionaries to lands which would become states in the union, they served American Catholics and anyone else who needed practical love and support, yet never were American citizens.

Both are heroes, and both have contributed to the shaping of America in ways that continue today.

There are eight precedents for this: St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta was made an honorary American during her lifetime by an act of Congress in 1996, and Sir Winston Churchill was given it during his by an act of the president in 1963. The other six were conferred posthumously:

Raoul Wallenberg
William and Hannah Penn
Casimir Pulaski
Bernardo de Galvez
and the Marquis de Lafayette

By granting these two holy men "citizenship," President Trump would affirm Christ, honor the work of the gospel in action, and highlight the need for virtue in each American.

Making them honorary US citizens would also be a massive show of support not only for Catholics but for every American who is sick and tired of the lies told about Christians and the Christian worldview.

How about it, Mr. President?
