In Saturday Interview 33 we discuss the government's plans to approve of the UN "Global Compact for Migration" migration framework.
We also ask ourselves what Sweden can gain from this and why the US, Australia, Hungary, Austria, and a host of other western countries have announced that they won't support this framework.
This interview is also available on our www.swebbtv.se website.
Summary:
The global companies have been invited to participate in the UN's work to develop a global framework for migration. The framework is now ready and the government is planning to sign this, first on December 10 in Marrakech and then at the UN General Assembly in January 2019.
The purpose of the agreement is to remove the obstacles for global migration linked to labor markets and demographic imbalances.
Under the agreement, signatory states undertake to implement the framework within their own countries as well as at regional and global levels. A large number of western including the US, Australia, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Hungary has announced that they will withdraw from the agreement.
End of summary
Background: UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan created a body that came to be known as the "Global Compact" at the World Economic Forum in Davos back in 1999.
The purpose was to establish international principles of human rights directed at companies. Today, almost 20 years later, 9,830 global companies are affiliated with Global Compact and they were also invited to participate in the process of drawing up the agreement.
The draft will be adopted at the UN meeting in Marrakech on December 10 this year. It is then adopted by the UN General Assembly in January 2019.
It's often emphasized that it's not a binding agreement, and it's true that Sweden will not be punished or excluded from the UN if we don't comply with the agreement.
Under the agreement, signatory states undertake to implement the framework within their own countries as well as at regional and global levels.
The framework contains a large number of agreements – commitments – governing what the participating countries are supposed to do. It's likely that these agreements will be incorporated into Swedish law.
Among other things, Sweden commits to enabling legal and secure ways of labor migration linked to what is called "demographic realities".
To give another example of one of the 23 agreed-to goals, we undertake to facilitate the global mobility of migrant workers and accompanying relatives.
Country after country has decided to withdraw from this. The other day, the Czech Republic also signaled that they will withdraw just as the US, Australia, Austria and Hungary have done. Other countries discussing withdrawal are Denmark and Poland.
In Sweden, this far-reaching agreement has not been talked about or discussed at all but in alternative media. No parliamentary party disagrees.
Also, the government is not obliged to raise this issue with the parliament or inform the media before signing the agreement.
Another part of the agreement is that the media is to be prevented from writing negative things about immigration.
The program also discusses the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights confirming the punishment for blasphemy that befell a woman in Austria who spoke facts about Muhammed.
We also discuss the government's proposal not to initiate preliminary investigations against those sentenced to expulsion, who commit crimes giving up to six months in prison.
In this agreement.the program participants see no benefits, only disadvantages for Sweden
Based on his competence as an ethnologist, K-O Arnstberg believes that the agreement will result in future chaos where the nation of Sweden is replaced with other forms of communities where "Sweden is out of the game".
He also believes that Sweden can't maintain the welfare state and its democracy in the long run, and this is linked to the ability to keep up and defend the national boundaries. Here's is the "GLOBAL COMPACT FOR SAFE, ORDERLY AND REGULAR MIGRATION" document:
