In an interview broadcast by BFM TV in France, Dr. Philippe Douste-Blazy provides insight into how a number of negative hydroxychloroquine studies got published in prestigious medical journals. He reveals that at a recent Chatham House top secret, closed door meeting attended by experts only, the editors of both The Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine expressed their exasperation and dismay at the mounting pressures put on them by pharmaceutical companies. Each of these editors used the word “criminal” to describe the erosion of science.

"If this continues, we are not going to be able to publish any more clinical research data because pharmaceutical companies are so financially powerful; they are able to pressure us to accept papers that are apparently methodologically perfect, but their conclusion is what pharmaceutical companies want.” ~Dr. Richard Horton, editor-in-chief at The Lancet

“The case against science is straightforward: much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue. Afflicted by studies with small sample sizes, tiny effects, invalid exploratory analyses, and flagrant conflicts of interest, together with an obsession for pursuing fashionable trends of dubious importance, science has taken a turn towards darkness…" ~Dr. Richard Horton, editor-in-chief at The Lancet

“It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of The New England Journal of Medicine.” ~Dr. Marcia Angell, Harvard Medical School
