Subrata Ghoshroy is a Research Affiliate with the Program in Science, Technology, and Society at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. He is also a Visiting Professor at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo. He spent two decades as an engineer in defense research before transitioning to the policy world in 1996 after receiving an IEEE Congressional Fellowship. He later became a professional staff member of the US Congress and following that, a Senior Defense Analyst at the US Government Accountability Office (GAO), the investigative arm of Congress. His research includes military funding of research, nuclear weapons, nuclear disarmament, missile defense, and space weapons. He is the Co-Chair of the International Network of Engineers and Scientists for Global Responsibility (INES), which is based in Berlin, Germany. He writes for the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists and is co-author of the book South Asia at a Crossroads, Nomos, 2010.
