Russia has deployed in Orbit a New-Gen Satellite Navigation System GLONASS

On Thursday, April 28, 2022, Russia put into operation the first new-generation satellite Glonass-K. The navigation satellite of the new generation Glonass-K, after flight tests, was put into operation and started working as part of the Glonass orbital group. This group includes 25 space vehicles, of which 23 are used for their intended purpose. 2 more space vehicles are under maintenance. At the moment, the average equivalent pseudo-range error due to the space segment in the absolute mode for civil signals is 1.32 meters. It is planned to reduce this figure to 30 cm. Russian engineers plan to improve these indicators by updating the satellite orbital group. Already this fall, Russia will send into space the long-awaited Glonass-K2. The main difference between Glonass-K2 and its predecessor is that it was created without imported components.
