Portland's 100th night of rioting last night saw a man set on fire by Antifa militants who tossed Molotov cocktails and explosive fireworks in residential neighborhoods. Portland police officers rushed in to put out the flames as rioters looked on.

Rioters again returned to the Portland Police Department’s East Precinct Thursday night, which is in a residential area, where they doused an elderly woman with paint and harassed another who was using a walker.

Once again, the Portland Police Department was forced to declare a supposed protest an “unlawful assembly” after assessing that the intent of the rioters was “to vandalize or attempt to burn down the precinct.”

Approximately 17,000 people signed up for a rally Saturday on a major road in Tiergarten Park, not far from parliament. They gather under the motto "The end of the pandemic: Freedom Day". The initiators had previously held demonstrations elsewhere against the restrictions imposed by the German government to curb the coronavirus.

"We want democracy back", called many demonstrators who feel slaves to the German state. They are convinced that mouth masks cannot help contain the coronavirus in any situation and that the government is imposing especially far-reaching measures to destroy democracy.

Six U.S. mayors, all Democrats, urged Congress on Monday to halt President Donald Trump's deployment of federal forces to their cities, saying the move has escalated tensions at anti-racism protests spreading across the country.

The request came on the same day the U.S. attorney for Oregon announced the arrest of 22 people on charges stemming from clashes with federal and local police at the federal courthouse in Portland.

Federal agents dispatched to Portland, Oregon, have drawn national attention for whisking away demonstrators in unmarked cars, beating a U.S. Navy veteran and tear-gassing activist mothers and the city's mayor.

About 1,000 demonstrators returned to downtown streets Monday for the 61st consecutive day after a weekend featuring the largest protest crowds in weeks and numerous clashes with federal police.

Monday again brought waves of tear gas from federal officials who labeled the gathering “unlawful” in response to repeated fireworks and a volley of trash thrown over a fence surrounding the federal courthouse.
#Portland protesters have shown up every night for two straight months after the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd. Crowds have rallied against police brutality, anti-Black racism and, in recent weeks, the federal government’s response to the city’s protests.

Federal officials have repeatedly said officers who use tear gas and shoot riot munitions on protesters are embedded in the downtown courthouse to protect it. On Monday, officials placed concrete barriers on both sides of the fence surrounding the building to stabilize the structure.

Several people who attended Monday night’s demonstrations called for protesters to stop focusing on the federal courthouse.

The evening began with dozens of people gathered in Lownsdale Square, a city park across the street from the courthouse. Rakeyah Issac, a stay at home mom, passed through the scene with her son. Her family lives near Portland State, several blocks from the protests.

A Black Lives Matter (BLM) protest demanding the removal of a Confederate statue in Weatherford, Texas, saw tensions rise as counter-protesters turned violent on Saturday. BLM protesters were seen being pushed and threatened by counter-protesters, some of whom were even carrying weapons and no face masks. One counter-protester was seen being detained by the police after charging at BLM activists. Several protests have been taking place across the US and all around the world asking authorities to have monuments and statues removed from public spaces since a debate Over racism and colonialism was triggered by the death of George Floyd at the hands ofa white police officer.

Garrett Foster, the Black Lives Matter protester fatally shot by a motorist in Austin on Saturday night, said on camera that the “people who hate us” are “too big of p-ssies to actually do anything about it” when asked why he was carrying a rifle.

The Austin Police said during a late night press conference that Foster was carrying a rifle and may have approached the vehicle prior to the shooting. The shooter was detained and is cooperating with police

“One adult male victim was located with a gunshot wound,” the press officer said, before confirming he passed away at the hospital shortly after. “Initial reports indicate that the victim may have been carrying a rifle and approached the suspect vehicle. Suspect was in the vehicle and shot at the victim. Suspect was detained and is cooperating with officers.”

The Great Black Lives Matter Protest in Seattle

The calm protests like every night turn into riots with the police.

A statue of a Black Lives Matter protester that was installed on a plinth in Bristol where a statue of slave trader Edward Colston once stood was removed by workmen this morning.

Pictures from the scene early today show orkers at the site at around 5.20am on Thursday loading the sculpture into the back of a skip lorry.

Bristol council later tweeted to confirm they had removed the statue and it will be kept in a museum for the artist to collect, or donate to their collection.

Hundreds of people protested in the Belarusian capital Minsk on on Tuesday after the central election commission refused to register the two main rivals of President Alexander Lukashenko as candidates in the Aug. 9 presidential election.

The commission's decision all but ensured victory for Lukashenko, who has been in power for 26 years.

Viktor Babariko, a banker who was detained last month, was excluded from the ballot because of a criminal case against him, the commission said. Valery Tsepkalo, a former ambassador who runs an office park for tech companies, was also rejected, after signatures on a supporting petition were nullified.

The two men had been widely seen as the last candidates left with a chance of defeating Lukashenko, who faces his strongest opposition in years as frustration mounts over the economy, human rights and his playing down of the coronavirus pandemic.

Several hundred people took to the streets in the centre of Minsk, periodically breaking into applause - a common form of public protest in Belarus of late. Police detained several dozen people while blocking off main streets.

"We are categorically for honest and fair elections," a protester who gave his name as Ruslan, told Reuters.

Social media networks released images of what they said were other protests in the cities of Grodno, Gomel and Brest. Reuters could not immediately confirm those reports.

Over the past few weeks police have arrested hundreds of people in an effort to quell anti-government protests before the elections. Almost all of Lukashenko's main rivals are either in detention or under investigation.

The European Union delegation to Belarus said the electoral commission's decision "undermines the overall integrity and democratic nature of the elections".

A disturbing video has emerged which appears to show a male police officer touching a woman's breasts during an arrest.

The footage shows the police officer repeatedly touching her breasts while she is handcuffed and requesting a female officer.

The person filming the incident can also be heard saying "Don't you f***ing touch her like that" and "Get your f***ing hands off her" , saying she's being "manhandled".

An Illinois woman has been charged with battery after she became violent and made racist statements at a Home Depot when a fellow shopper asked her to put on a face mask.

"I was shocked in the moment, but looking at it now it wasn't surprising to hear it coming out of her mouth," the victim Sydney Waters said.

Waters said the encounter on Friday left her with scrapes and bruises.

She said it began when the woman in the video, identified by police as Teri Hill, approached a store employee Waters was speaking with. Hill was complaining about other people not wearing masks. But while complaining, Hill took off her mask and Waters asked her to put it back on.

"She didn't appreciate being told that, and ripped her mask off, and started going for the gold, that she was going to spit in my face, she was going to cough on me," Waters said.

Waters said she pulled out her phone and started recording. Hill gave her the middle finger before making racist comments.
"The entitlement is disgusting," Waters can be heard saying in the video.

"Yes, I am entitled. I'm white and I'm a woman," Hill replies.

"What does you being white have to do with you being able to get your way?" Waters asks.
"Because I'm a white woman. That's what happens," Hill replies.

"You're a disgusting, racist piece of trash. Literally," Waters counters.

"I believe in white power," Hill says.

After Waters tried to capture Hill's face on camera there's a scuffle and Waters said the two ended up on the ground. Police arrived and after viewing the video arrested Hill for misdemeanor battery.

"I don't deal with racism. It's so prevalent right now, and I feel like if you're not stopping people and you're not saying something, you're part of the problem," Waters said.

In addition to the battery charge, Hill was also charged with disorderly conduct. Hill did not reply when contacted about commenting on what happened.

On the biggest COVID day for the state on record, the premier has confirmed Melbourne will go back into Stage 3 lockdown.

Just hours after it was confirmed there were 191 cases in the state on Tuesday, Daniel Andrews held a press conference and said the state was “on the cusp of our second wave”.

He confirmed the lockdown would apply to all of metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire.

It will come into effect from midnight on Wednesday and will last for six weeks.

For the second time since the start of the pandemic, there will only be only four reasons for residents to leave their homes
These are for food and supplies, work or education, exercise and care-giving.

“Yesterday, we reached a grim new milestone, the most cases in a single day - Today we surpassed it,” Andrews said.

“It’s clear we are on the cusp of our second wave – and we cannot let this virus cut through our communities.”

Businesses

Businesses in the restricted areas will also need to close or revert to takeaway again including restaurants, cafes and bars.

Beauty, personal services, entertainment, cultural venues and gyms will need to close.

Community sport, food courts, arenas, casinos, pools, cinemas, playgrounds, galleries and camping will also stop from midnight on Wednesday.
