A group of Republicans in the Senate have worked with Democrats to draft gun control laws, which are likely to soon get signed into law. Yet, as this happens, the Supreme Court is working to make key decisions on gun rights that could upend the efforts.

Meanwhile, as the Supreme Court is expected to issue its ruling, potentially overturning Roe v. Wade on abortion, the FBI is warning that violence will not be tolerated. Yet, activist groups involved in protests are openly stating they won’t rule out the use of violence, others have been firebombing pro-life facilities, and illegal protests at the homes of Supreme Court justices have been allowed to continue regardless by the Biden administration.

The Jan. 6 Committee is preparing its public hearings, where it plans to present evidence on the protests at the U.S. Capitol. Yet The New York Times offered a different take, suggesting the hearings are less about justice and more about politics, with a focus on trying to shift votes for the midterm elections. It stated, “With their majority at stake, Democrats plan to use the six high-profile hearings to refocus voters’ attention on Republicans’ role in the attack.”

And in other news, the world is heading into a food crisis, according to a report from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the United Nations World Food Programme. Part of this is causing a rise in food prices, especially of meat. But organizations including the World Economic Forum claim to have a solution to both food shortages and the environmental impact of meat: eating bugs.

Hillary Clinton lawyer Michael Sussmann was acquitted by a jury on May 31. He was charged with lying to the FBI when claiming he didn’t work for any specific client, as he was working for the Clinton campaign and was spreading false information of a covert communications channel between the Trump Organization and Russia’s Alfa Bank.

The decision, however, has shown a spotlight on conflicts of interest both with the judge and the jury in the trial. The judge had close personal ties to the case, and members of the jury included three people who donated to Clinton, and a woman whose daughter is on the same sports team as Sussmann’s daughter.

We also invite former FBI agent Marc Ruskin to comment on the case brought forward by Special Counsel John Durham and the acquittal decision. Ruskin is a former undercover agent, and is the author of “The Pretender: My Life Undercover for the FBI.”

Senate Republicans recently voted down a bill intended to combat what Democrats say is a rise in domestic terrorism, noting the bill constituted the creation of “thought police” offices within federal agencies. On a deeper level, however, the arguments for the bill were based on a false pretense that a recent mass shooting in Buffalo, New York, was done by a “far-right extremist.” In reality, the shooter appeared to be a far-left National Bolshevist, as have others. We invite Trevor Loudon, host of Counterpunch and author of “Enemies Within,” to explain this.

In other news, another mass shooting recently took place in Uvalde, Texas, where a man shot and killed 19 children and two teachers at an elementary school. The tragedy is being used politically by Democrats to advance an agenda against firearms, yet emerging information has undermined a central argument to the gun control narrative—that firearms are not needed for defense, when police provide this as a service—since police waited nearly an hour to stop the shooter, out of fear for their own safety.

There is a new global outbreak of monkeypox, and the Biden administration is already purchasing millions of doses of recently-approved vaccines as the World Health Organization (WHO) weighs its response. A series of incidents positioned the WHO to be poised for a monkeypox outbreak, and with new powers potentially being granted to the WHO to manage global health policy, this monkeypox crisis could give the U.N. agency a serious boost to its powers.

Meanwhile, dozens of news outlets having been falsifying the narrative around Dinesh D’Souza’s documentary “2000 Mules.” These outlets have been declaring that officials with the Georgia State Elections Board debunked claims of election fraud made in “2000 Mules,” and yet while officials did challenge some fraud claims, those claims were unrelated to the documentary.
