Omicron continues to spread like wild fire across the globe. We have been covering all things Omicron for over a week now (check out the additional videos below!) and today wanted to dive into new data on the severity of illness with Omicron. We discuss South Africa, United Kingdom, and Scotland severity of illness data as compared to the United States. Oddly, the numbers in the United States seem to have higher hospitalization rates than they reported in South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Scotland. We also discuss case rates per state and more. South Africa reported a hospitalization rate of 1.7% with Omicron, whereas the United Kingdom and Scotland reported closer to 2%. The US reported 240,000 cases/day with hospitalization rate of 9,000 per day. This equates to closer to 3.5% hospitalization rate. What is going on here?
