On Thursday 1st July there was a by election in Batley and Spen due to the Labour MP standing for and winning the election for Mayor.
The expectation was that Labour would lose as had happened in the Harlepool By-Election, but this time Labour hung on with a wafer thin majority with only 35% of the vote on an under 50% turnout.
George Galloway took 20% and the other parties like UKIP, For Britain and Heritage Party took only a handful of votes each.
Why did the issue of Batten Grammar school and free speech translate into votes for these alternative parties.
Tune in to hear David Vance's commentary on what happened and what this means for alternative parties going forward.
