The MiG-29CMT is a 4+ multipurpose fighter aircraft, in which CMT stands for profound modernization of the MiG-29 aircraft. The production of the airplane was launched in 2004.
Outwardly, the plane may look heavy and strange in a way. Engineers found a way for the aircraft to carry additional fuel in two conformal tanks with a total capacity of 2,020 liters. The additional fuel tanks make the plane look humpbacked. At the same time, the range of the fighter was increased 3,5 times.
The MiG-29CMT was outfitted with a removable refueling bar for air refueling operations. The bar can be either installed or removed in field conditions within a maximum of two hours.
The cockpit of the fighter jet was reworked entirely. The information and control field of the cockpit of the MiG-29CMT includes two new large-format multifunctional indicators. Now the pilot can perform combat missions without taking his hands off the thrusters.
Opportunities for using high-precision air-to-surface weapons were significantly expanded.
