Meister Eckhart was a favorite theologian of the infamous Nazi Mystic, Alfred Rosenberg, who praised Meister Eckhart in his racist book, "The Myth of the 20th Century. Gnosticism can manifest itself in many forms and graft itself onto different religions and even present itself in a secular form. Nazism is a racist form of Gnosticism. The Black Nationalism / Black Liberation Theology of Oprah and Obama's Trinity Church is also (reverse) racist form of Gnosticism.
Anton LaVey, who started the Church of Satan in the 1960's once said that New Agers are satanists, who just do not realize it yet. Historically, Gnosticism has often been associated with Satanism/Luciferianism.
