The concept of Citizenship is a defining concept in Occidental history which has been absorbed by the conception of the Liberal state and parliamentary democracy.
But, are the beginnings of Citizenship and the duties and rights it entails anything resembling what we have today?
Should Citizenship be taken for granted, or a privilege to be earned?
We will be discussing this with The Athenian Stranger, with a special emphasis on the Classical Legacies.
The Athenian Stranger is Undergrad in history and math, 1 year in PhD math program then transferred into philosophy:
He has a PhD in philosophy with a speciality in classical political philosophy and postmodernity (Nietzsche, Heidegger, and Strauss) from The Institute for Philosophic Studies at the University of Dallas. His Dissertation is on Seth Benardete’s commentary on Plato’s Laws.
