"Die Grenzwacht hielt im Osten" or "Die Baltenfahne" how it's originally called, is a German song about the Baltic Landwehr and their fight against the Red Army. The song is based on a poem of Karl Freiherr Manteuffel-Katzdangen and tells the story of Hans von Manteuffel who was related to Karl. Hans von Manteuffel died in Riga in 1919, the poem was written one year later. The poem was rediscovered in the last decades and somebody created a melody for it and turned it into a song. The person who created the melody is not known.
