Definitions:
- Ethnicity: a category of people who share ancestry with one another.
- Ancestry: the genetic relationship between an ancestor and their descendants.
- Germans: an ethnicity of Germanic people from the Germania region of Europe.
Germans existed as a people long before the nation called Germany was created. If one has German ancestry, he is German even if he was not born in Germany.

Deutsche gab es schon lange vor der Gründung der Nation Deutschland. Wenn jemand deutsche Vorfahren hat, ist er Deutscher, auch wenn er nicht in Deutschland geboren wurde.
