The Ukrainian crisis was caused by the US. Vladimir Putin talked about it in an interview to the Egyptian newspaper “Al Ahram”. He said that the United States and its Western allies have considered themselves “winners in the “cold war” and had decided to impose their will everywhere. Also Russian leader called the promises of NATO not to expand to the East “empty words” which do not reflect reality.

Vladimir Putin accused the EU of “isolation of a number of States of the former Soviet Union from Russia. Moscow has repeatedly warned US of the detrimental effects of interference in the internal affairs in Ukraine. But the West didn’t listen to it and supported the coup d’etat in Kiev. That caused the unleashing of the fratricidal war” - said Vladimir Putin.

Russian president also talked about the scale of the “militarization” of Ukraine. In 2014 its military budget has been increased by almost 41 per cent and this year according to preliminary data will be increased more than 3 times. Putin stressed that the Ukraine’s economy is in extremely poor condition and its supported mainly by international funds including Russia.
