The suspect accused of shooting 28-year-old Charleston Police Officer Cassie Johnson in the face is a repeat offender who was out on a personal recognizance bond for another offense at the time of the attack.

Officer Johnson is not expected to survive. She was taken off life support on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

The suspect accused of shooting Johnson has been identified as 38-year-old Joshua Marcellus Phillips.
