In terms of psychological presentation, people with an early onset of GD have much in common with individuals with somatic intersexuality (Meyer-Bahlburg, 2011). None of the above neuroimaging studies included subjects with signs of somatic intersexuality. MtFs and FtMs each have their own cerebral phenotype. This would suggest that early-onset homosexual transsexuals have an intersex condition restricted to the brain. “Brain hermaphroditism” was suggested in the early postmortem studies (Kruijver, Zhou, Pool, Hofman, Gooren, & Swaab, 2000).

As well as this, the principal advocates of the ‘brain sex’ hypothesis are identifiable as AGP. They have no such brain intersexuality, either as a result of their transsexualism or as a stimulus for it. They just have men’s brains. So their claim to be ‘women born in men’s bodies’ and the ‘brain sex’ argument are both unsupported by the evidence. These do appear to apply to homosexual (HSTS) transsexuals but not to non-homosexual (AGP) transsexuals and since HSTS are a minority, that means that the ‘brain sex’ claim is invalid for most.

Cherry Picking The Transgender Brain
Searcy is likely to have written her article in an attempt to discount the growing evidence from transgender brain scan research that shows that the two type taxonomy for transwomen is supported. Where once older transitioning transwomen cherry picked the brain structure research in an attempt to spin it such that all transwomen had female brains. She is spinning the science to lead us to believe that brain structure research is unimportant and should be ignored, first by saying that there is no brain structure sexual dimorphism of any consequence and then say that what differences between transgender folk and nontransfolk is unimportant anyway. I believe it represents a growing fear by autogynephilic transwomen that the brain scan science will undermine their own identity as transwomen if the public were to become aware of what the evidence means.

After having researched the topic of youth transgender treatment for about a year I wrote this letter expressing concern about the new gender affirming approach to treating gender dysphoric children. My concerns are listed in this post, “Do Youth Transgender Diagnoses Put Would Be Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Adults at Risk for Unnecessary Medical Intervention?”
I also believe preventing a child from outgrowing dysphoria because of confusing social transitions or the use of chemicals is an abuse of that child’s future and a human rights abuse, mostly of the LGB community who would be most affected by these social and medical interventions on children and teens.
It’s odd to me that people like Jesse Singal, James Cantor, Alice Dreger, and Sarah Ditum, all heterosexuals (except Cantor), are much more concerned about possible negative impacts of this on gay and lesbian youth than the gay and lesbian media, activist, and healthcare communities, who either aren’t aware people are concerned about this, or are just totally apathetic.
